Shape Shifter

No one ever escapes from the hands,
Doom to fade below the sand,
Nothing will freeze over,
Running on the seething path forever,
Leaving behind fragments as a gift,
A distraction for the thrift,

Shhhh, now, don't look back,
You're not ready to attack,
Still stuck behind the frame,
You have to learn your name,
The phantom is on the prowl,
Can't you hear its howl,

The hunt has now started,
Are you the one stalked,
The one to be shot,
Or have you forgot,
Those fragments are you too,
Just what are you
This is about how time makes phantoms out of us. In this poem there is a person trying to escape their past, but it cannot be done. As they keep running from the phantom, bit by bit they start to lose themselves. They are scared to face it, and because of that fear they don't know who they are. While the phantom is hunting, they forget that they shouldn't be scared of the phantom for the phantom is part of them.

I still think I could have done better, but I just have to practice at it. But thank you, it's nice to hear feedback. >u>

That's good to hear. I like writing works about the human mind, so I'm glad another human mind can relate to this piece. :D
